BENNY RIDES AGAIN

The Zodiac Trio teams up with French jazz arranger Jean Marc Brisson for project payment hommage to the King of Swing. Benny Rides Again brings to life an array of legendary tunes from the Swing Era arranged masterfully by Brisson. These dazzling arrangements showcase the original tune through the lens of a classical composer and performer. Complex rhythms and sparking virtuosity bring these masterpieces to life in a new way.

An interesting side note: The Zodiac Trio’s career, which started back in 2007, was undeniably shaped by arguably the most famous work ever to be written for the clarinet-violin-piano: Bela Bartok’s Contrasts. What’s interesting, is that this 20th century masterpiece was commissioned by Benny Goodman, and premiered by the King of Swing with Bartok at the piano (and Szigeti on the violin) in Carnegie Hall in 1940.

So in way, the Zodiac Trio explores the more famous side of Goodman, after enjoying his lesser-known yet contribution to the clarinet repertoire for years.
